 9-1-1 Services
  
Highland Ambulance EMS, Inc. is the primary provider of 9-1-1 emergency medical services 24hrs a day 7 days a week to the residents of the towns of, Ashfield, Chesterfield, Cummington, Goshen, Plainfield and Williamsburg. Highland Ambulance also provides mutual aid services and Advanced Life Support intercept services to neighboring towns like Buckland, Conway, Northampton, Windsor, Worthington and others.

Highland staffs it’s ambulances with Massachusetts certified Paramedics and Emergency Medical Technicians (EMT’s). These individuals are trained in CPR, airway management, I.V. therapy, and Pharmacology for emergent care with medication administration and monitoring. They are also trained in Cardiology, with ECG (electrocardiograms) which allows them to perform 12 lead ECG diagnostic monitoring. Diagnostic monitoring allows for cardiac treatments and procedures, including defibrillation, cardioversion and pacing.

They are also skilled at assessing and initiating care for all medical and traumatic emergencies, Their goal is to stabilize patients prior to arrival at the hospital Emergency Department, where they will transfer care to Emergency Department staff members.

If your event should require staffing of Emergency Medical Technicians and ambulance services, Highland Ambulance EMS, Inc. can help. 
Past events have included sporting events, fairs, parades, festivals and other large public gatherings. Highland Ambulance is also available to do presentations for our community elders and show-and-tell and ambulance walk-through’s at school events for children.

Free Assists

Highland Ambulance EMS, Inc. provides complimentary patient assistance for residents located within our primary 9-1-1 service areas.
These services include lift assistance up from the floor, stabilization up / down stairways and assistance in and out of personal vehicles.

Non-Emergent Transports

Highland Ambulance EMS, Inc. with its team of certified EMT’s can provide Non-Emergent Transports (Basic Life Support), which can be scheduled in advance for residents of the towns we cover.  
The EMTs who provide Basic Life Support transports are trained in basic airway management, bleeding control, CPR, orthopedic care, lifting and moving patients, managing allergic reactions, and assisting with the delivery of newborns, plus much more.

Non-Emergent Transport is commonly used for:
  • Local emergency room visits and discharges
  • Trips home from and to nursing care facilities
  • Transfers from home to and from specialty hospitals 
  • Transfers from home to and from rehabilitative hospitals
  • Trips from home to and from dialysis and radiation centers
  • Trips from home to and from doctors' offices
  • Trips from home to and from retirement communities
While these situations are non-emergent, they still require a high degree of patient care, skillfully and compassionately provided by the Highland Ambulance EMS, Inc team.
